Dozens were nearly drowned at Ludington,
MI when a seiche struck there
on a calm day in 1956.  The tragedies at Grand Haven, MI in 1929, Holland,
MI in 1938, and Warren Dunes (St. Joe, MI) in 2003 can all be attributed
extreme water level fluctuations rather than inshore wave action.
