Surfing competition winners named

   The Second Annual Surfing Competition in Grand Haven was held last Saturday with 36 surfers from various parts of the United States and Australia.

   Bruce Boland, contest coordinator, said the contestants had nice waves ranging from 3-5 feet on Saturday.  The top five finishers were:  Tom Pushaw of Grand Haven, first place; Bill Pushaw of Grand Haven, second place; Steve White of Grand Haven, third place; Bob Pushaw of Grand Haven, fourth place; and Joey White, fifth place.

   The field was composed of 34 men and two women competitors.

   An awards banquet was held Saturday evening at the Tip-A-Few Tavern.

   This year’s competition was sponsored by Boland’s Sun and Surfwear, Woodmarks Sound Center, Inc., Pizza and Sub Shop and tip-A-Few Tavern, all of Grand Haven.
